Emergency Response Overview
Available as a dedicated add-on to qualifying DevEdge website support plans.
Monitoring tells you something is wrong. Emergency Response means someone acts on it.
Most website support begins after someone notices a problem and reports it. DevEdge Emergency Response works differently — combining continuous infrastructure surveillance, instant telemetry gathering, and rapid human escalation.
Continuous Surveillance
Our monitoring infrastructure continuously watches supported WordPress and WooCommerce sites for serious technical incidents, fatal errors, and availability drops.
Immediate Diagnostics
When an emergency is detected, the DevEdge Hub immediately collects HTTP status codes, PHP fatal errors, database connectivity, and recent change history.
Actionable Escalation
Rather than leaving alerts sitting in an unmonitored inbox, qualifying emergencies bypass triage and alert a DevEdge engineer for immediate human investigation.
How Emergency Response works
From initial failure detection to engineer intervention, every emergency follows a structured, rapid escalation workflow.
Detect
Monitoring infrastructure identifies a potentially critical website problem through continuous surveillance and rapid health checks.
Diagnose
The DevEdge Hub automatically gathers HTTP status, PHP errors, database connectivity, SSL health, recent changes, resource status, and available recovery points.
Classify
The incident is verified and assessed according to strict impact criteria to filter out transient latency or momentary blips.
Escalate
The response SLA begins when the DevEdge monitoring platform confirms and classifies an eligible incident as P1 Emergency, triggering direct out-of-hours engineer escalation.
Respond
A DevEdge engineer begins human investigation and remediation within the guaranteed 2-hour SLA.
All diagnostic telemetry is logged to your incident timeline for full transparency and post-incident review.
What we respond to under Emergency Response
Emergency Response is reserved for incidents causing critical availability, security, or core transactional failure. Transient blips, isolated user issues, and non-urgent requests are handled during normal business hours.
Qualifying P1 Emergencies (24/7 Escalation)
Handled via Standard Support (Business Hours)
A real engineer response day or night
The response SLA begins when the DevEdge monitoring platform confirms and classifies an eligible incident as P1 Emergency. A DevEdge engineer will begin human investigation within 2 hours of classification.
Automated Investigation
The DevEdge Hub begins collecting diagnostic telemetry immediately upon anomaly detection — capturing server status, PHP errors, database state, and recent file changes.
Immediate (< 60 seconds)
Human Investigation SLA
A DevEdge engineer begins hands-on technical investigation and root-cause analysis directly on your infrastructure.
Within 2 hours of P1 classification
Remediation & Recovery
Hands-on engineering begins immediately upon investigation. Includes the first 120 minutes of emergency engineering per qualifying incident to restore core operations (additional engineering at £175/hr).
First 120 mins included
Contractual definition: The response SLA begins when the DevEdge monitoring platform confirms and classifies an eligible incident as P1 Emergency, guaranteeing that human engineering investigation begins within 2 hours. Includes the first 120 minutes of emergency engineering per incident; additional emergency engineering is charged at £175/hour.
Who Emergency Response is for
Designed specifically for organisations where website downtime or broken functionality directly threatens revenue, customer trust, or business operations.
Membership & Subscription Platforms
Websites with recurring billing, active student dashboards, and gated content requiring continuous subscriber access without interruption.
Booking & Reservation Engines
Hospitality, medical clinics, and professional appointment schedulers where lost availability slots directly forfeit bookings and revenue.
Customer & Client Portals
Enterprise extranets, financial dashboards, and client portals where unavailability damages user trust, compliance, and professional SLAs.
Lead-Generation & Paid Campaign Hubs
Websites investing heavily in Google Ads, Paid Social, or time-sensitive promotional campaigns where downtime directly wastes ad budget.
Websites where tomorrow morning is already too late
If discovering an outage at 9:00 AM would already cause material financial loss, reputational damage, or severe customer attrition, standard support is not enough. Emergency Response ensures an engineer is actively investigating while the rest of the world is asleep.

Anatomy of an emergency incident
This illustrative incident demonstrates how the DevEdge Hub monitors telemetry, captures diagnostics automatically, and guides engineer investigation to restore stability.
Talk to DevEdge02:14 — Availability failure detected
Continuous telemetry monitoring flags a drop in HTTP response. The DevEdge Hub immediately triggers automated diagnostics without human delay.
02:15 — HTTP 500 & PHP fatal error confirmed
The Hub inspects server error logs and isolates an unhandled PHP fatal error following a database connection drop.
02:16 — Recent change identified & P1 classified (SLA clock starts)
The Hub identifies a recent website change as a likely contributor and adds it to the incident evidence. With persistent failure confirmed, the incident is classified as a P1 Emergency, starting the 2-hour response SLA clock.
02:17 — DevEdge engineer alerted
The emergency triggers direct out-of-hours engineer escalation with a complete, pre-assembled diagnostic bundle.
03:01 — Human investigation started (45m into 2-hr SLA)
A DevEdge engineer initiates active investigation, accesses server telemetry, and confirms the remediation pathway within the 2-hour SLA window.
03:34 — Faulty update rolled back & website restored
The faulty update is isolated and rolled back to a verified restore point. Database integrity and checkout pathways are confirmed operational.
03:48 — Extended monitoring confirms stability
Automated monitoring verifies zero recurring errors and sustained uptime. A complete post-incident report is prepared for the client.
Frequently asked questions
Clear answers about SLA guarantees, qualifying incidents, technical prerequisites, and how Emergency Response works.
Ask a questionIs Emergency Response the same as uptime monitoring?
No. Uptime monitoring tells you when website availability is affected. Emergency Response goes further by combining 24/7 critical monitoring with automated diagnostics, P1 incident escalation and a guaranteed human response from DevEdge within 2 hours for qualifying incidents.
Does the 2-hour SLA mean my website will be fixed within 2 hours?
No. The 2-hour SLA guarantees that a DevEdge engineer will begin human investigation within 2 hours of a qualifying P1 incident being confirmed and classified. Resolution time depends on the nature of the issue, the remediation required and whether third-party services are involved.
What is included financially when an emergency incident occurs?
Emergency Response includes the first 120 minutes of hands-on emergency engineering for each qualifying P1 incident, focused on restoring website availability and essential functionality. If remediation extends beyond the included 120 minutes, additional emergency engineering is charged at £175 per hour.
Can I purchase Emergency Response without a DevEdge support plan?
Emergency Response is designed as an add-on to qualifying DevEdge support plans. This ensures we already have the required access, monitoring, backups and technical understanding needed to respond effectively during an emergency.
Is Emergency Response available overnight and on weekends?
Yes. Emergency Response provides 24/7/365 critical monitoring and out-of-hours escalation for qualifying P1 incidents, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
What qualifies as a P1 emergency?
A qualifying P1 emergency is a confirmed incident causing serious disruption to a business-critical website or service. Examples include complete website unavailability, persistent 500/502/503/504 server failures, fatal PHP errors taking the site down, database unavailability, widespread WooCommerce checkout or payment failure, active website compromise, widespread login or portal failure, or an SSL issue preventing normal website access.
Does every website qualify for Emergency Response?
No. Emergency Response is subject to technical onboarding and approval. Before cover begins, DevEdge will verify that the website meets minimum support, access, backup, monitoring and recovery requirements.
What happens if the problem is caused by a hosting provider or another third party?
DevEdge will investigate the incident, identify the likely source of the problem and take any recovery action available to us. Where the issue depends on a hosting provider, payment gateway, DNS provider or another third party, we will assist with escalation and recovery where possible, but third-party response and resolution times remain outside DevEdge's control.
